The journey from Antalya Airport to Olympos covers a distance of 85 km and takes about 80 minutes by car. As you leave the terminal behind, you will travel westwards, crossing the city of Antalya before reaching the quieter stretch of the southern coast.

Travelling the coast road to Olympos

The drive begins at the airport on the eastern side of Antalya. Your driver will navigate through the city before reaching the western district of Konyaaltı. From here, the road climbs onto the slopes of the Taurus mountains, passing through several short tunnels. The route then winds high above the Mediterranean sea, with pine forests on one side and water on the other, featuring constant bends that continue past Tekirova. To reach Olympos, the vehicle leaves the main highway and descends a narrow side road that drops steeply down to the coast.

The wooded river valley of Olympos

Situated in the Kumluca district, Olympos is an ancient city scattered through a leafy valley that leads to a pebble beach. The area has avoided large development, offering low-rise, family-run tree-houses and simple bungalow lodges instead of large resorts. The lane winding down from the main highway terminates among these wooden lodges. Because part of the valley road is unsurfaced, the final metres of your journey to some properties may be completed on foot. Just across the bay lies the village of Çıralı, with the natural Chimaera flames burning on the mountain slopes above it.
